Dial by Name / Dial by Number

Hi All.

Question.

I have set up an autoattendant giving people the option of dialling by name or dialling by number (option 2 and 3)

When they hit the key, there is no message saying enter your number or enter the name, however the functions work just fine.

How do I get those recordings for the user. I was going to set up another auto attendant, but when I do I seem to get the same thing happening.

I have recorded the greetings and the menu prompt, if that is what you mean.

So when the user presses, in this case 2 for dial by number, he doesn't get a message saying "Please enter the extension now" or something similar. Which lends me to believe that there might be a missing .wav file or something similar.

Unless you know of why I wouldn't get it.

My dial by name gets a pre-recorded prompt, but when I try and enter the name, it can't find it in the directory.

I am stumped.

You need to record dial by number, normally you would say this on the main menu i.e "For sales press 1, service press 2 or if you know the extn dial it now..."

As for dial by name, if the users haven't recorded their name it will not work, this is in the documents though

Hi there.

I just went through some other postings, and it says that dial by name isn't allowed on embedded voicemail... which is what I have.

Is that right?

Hi All.

Ok, thanks to the help I got here, and a little head hammering, I have figured out the dial by name / dial by number.

As was said, as soon as I recorded the username in the voicemail,(access the voicemail with *17, then use *05 to record the name) dial by name started working (thanks) <smile>

As for the dial by number, I chose the pressing 2 for the dial by number item. All of my extensions that began with 2 ... all I needed to do was complete the number (my message says "to dial by number please enter the extension number now...") To test this, I created a ficticious extension 500 and put dial by number under the key 5...

Hope my work and knowledge of other people helps others who come after me.... or me when my memory dies.

It's been available on embedded since 5.0, the option wouldn't be there if you couldn't do it
