Hi folks,

I've a third party device which uses a analogue line to dial an external server (on the PSTN) and dump information to it.
Currently, it dials without the prefix 9 and hence cannot get an outside line.
I want to avoid the situation of having to call out the third party maintainer to reprogram the dialing digits in the device (chargeable).
Is there a way of programming the DN so that whenever the line is needed the digit 9 is already pre-dialled and the device can dial out normally.
I've tried to do a hotdial 9 (ftr hot d 4 9) but this doesnt work.
Any ideas will be gratefully received.

forward that analog line to a dummy acd q that ncfw to your extenal number including the 9

or a phantom that dcfw xternal

Use Pretranslation.
Make an XLST(SCL) like
0 90
1 91
..
9 99

and XLAT in LD18

What happens when using the Hot Dial feature?

When using hotdial I get constant dial tone even when pressing further digits.

nothing in any pbx is ever the only solution. the reason your not getting any past the nine is the dtr drops, have some elevators that did the same thing. i built a work around with acd, the fastest way is pertranslation. the acd maxp 1 to to 9 plus then have the device dial a 4 digit acd dn is very safe

All declarative statements come with implied qualifications such as "given the known parameters", "within reason", and "without excessive expense".

Kainfs' stated goal is to "...avoid the situation of having to call out the third party maintainer to reprogram the dialing digits in the device (chargeable)."

Now let's assume that the dialed telephone number to the external server is 714.555.5555. Yes, one could program the NARS/BARS AC2 as 7 with a SPN of 14 that routes the call to a trunk and inserts the 714 back into the dialed number. Or maybe use a steering code of 714 in CDP to do the same routing. But these solutions would not be reasonable or, given the PBX's current dialing plan, without excessive expense. Nor would building an ACD Que to redirect the call unless the number being dialed by the device is reprogrammed to dial the ACD DN - a chargeable event that Kainfs is trying to avoid.

Folks, in the two months that I have been an active member of this forum it is apparent to me that many of us, myself included, need to do a better job of understanding the details of each threads' technical issue together with the solution parameters provided by the requester. And that commentary on the advice offered by others that is less than constructive commentary is generally unwarranted and is not in keeping with the spirit of a technical forum.

The device is alreading dialing the analog xtension...with that being said...fwd the analog xtention to a dummy q or phantom...no need to involve any other expense...unless the user doeesn't know how to program a dummy q or phantom

Make life easier for yourself and the next guy after you, call the 3rd party vendor and have them do the job right.

PS I'm with you John!!!!!!
