Norstar MICS... Reset... Loaded PRI Enabler... Route 1 PRI-A... Destination Code 9.

Why would I have to dial a 1 + an Area Code for local calls?

Pretty straight forward.

Called Cox and they said everything on their end is ok.

Stumped.

What happens when you dial 10 digit (no one)? Audio message from the carrier or an error on the screen?

What is your Absorb set to?
What is your DN Length set to?

Thanks guys for responding.

It's been about 15 years since i programmed my last PRI.

I believe I have the "Absorb" set to 1 just to remove the 9 from the dialing string.

The DN length is set to 4, but i thought that was for the extensions only. The receive length is 4 also for inbound calls.

Inbound calls are no problem at this point.

I set Route 1 to PRI-A... Destination Code 9, Absorb 1, no Dial Out.

I'm at a loss to explain what the MICS could possibly send out that would prompt the Cox Switch to request 11 digits from me.

I'm in the 480 area code and to reach a number locally, I have to dial 1-480-XXX-XXXX.

Back in the 90's I must have installed about 30 or 40 MICS' with PRI's. I never had any trouble.

Thanks again for writing!

Sorry I meant the Public DN length under Dialing Plan.
I am not sure this is the issue but worth a shot.

I don't know what it is at present... I've never fiddled with it, but i will take a look.

I just did a reset prior to loading the PRI Enabler Codes, so everything should be defaulted.

After contacting Cox today, I found out that I can dial local calls within the 480 area code (that I'm in) but 602 and 623 are no go.

Begugger shows that the IAD is only receiving 7 digits, but 1-602-XXX-XXXX will go through; same for 623

I will take a look at that prompt.

Wish I had a RAD.

Thanks for writing!!!

You know... this is the first machine that has ever had the dialing plan prompt. I found it... it is in routing. Later releases it is under System Programming. It asks for a prefix (ie:602) and the DN length after.

All is well now!

Thanks for your input guys!!!!

follow what curly said and change your Public dialing to 10 digits sounds like it is set for 7 right now.
