DI-30 not recognized by XP 1

I can't wait to use my new old DI-30, but XP (pro) just can't see it. I've heard this is a common problem, but the solutions I've found are not working for me. If there is a conflict, (could it be my GE-Force Video card???) I can't find it. Device Manager says its working. Driver's from Hastec. Echo's installed, but obviously not working. The drive itself works; it was cooking on 98! Help!!!

Hello all,

i have the same problem.
After installing it says:
driver support=available and 1Safe=Needs reboot
But rebooting doesnt help.
Uninstalling and reinstalling doesnt help either.

I had it installed and working before on Win98SE en later in XP. Like backup up on tapes and restoring. But i don't wan't it all the time attached and enabled so i made a second profile in XP for this setup. But when i wanted to switch it didn't start and problem as stated above stayed. But sometimes, when i uninstall and reinstall, and in registry delete all entry's, it will install ok and work fine. The problem isn't the second profile under XP because this strange behaviour i experienced also when i just had one, default, config.

What helped me is:

- Unplug tape-unit
- Uninstall ECHO
- Uninstall the driver
- Delete in registry all ECHO entry's
- Delete in registry all Onstream entry's
- Delete in registry all FREEDOM entry's
- Reboot
- Install ECHO
- Plugin hot tape-unit
- Hardware found shows up and finish it

[Btw: this goes for the 30G USB (DI-30)]

I have an OnStream 30 ADR disk with very important data on it. I have use of 2 XP Pro SP2 machines and one Win2K machine. If I can access my data on any of these, I would be very pleased. That said, the DI-30 USB drive seems to be working (so says the device manager and the sound of the drive) but I cannot get the drive letter to show up on any of the 3 machines.

I tried the reflashing using Flash 1.09 for DI30 and tried 1.09 for USB30 and keep getting the message "Please check ASPI for correct installation .. On NT platforms, ASPI is not installed by default. Remove any existing Aspi components first, then run ASPINST>EXE from the install CD to setup, then reboot for the changes to take effect." This message comes up on both the XP machines and the Win2K machine.

Once, on the Win2K machine, when I tried reflashing the Flash 1.09 USB30, it picked up on the "Drive 1" but asked me to reboot and when I did, back to the way things were.

Even tried hanzl64's suggestions. Still same response.

If someone can help, I would be extremely grateful.

Okay, made a little progress. Looks like I got my Win2K machine to recongize it with the USB30 driver. I'll let you know tomorrow in the case that I still need more help. Thanks.

I still need help. If anyone is willing to assist, please just call me at (303) 927-6400 (yes, that is Colorado, once home of Onstream.

The challenge that I face is a) getting it working on my XP machines without blue screens of death, b) figuring out how my data is stored on the drive.

From the look at the data from the W2K machine, it looks like it is archived or backed up in some way. I backed up these tapes many years ago and now need the data back. Did Echo do any archiving or renaming of the files? The data is stored on the disk in a file format that renames almost every (but not every) file to an 8 digit number sequence, the 1000's of files all have that same file name, and yes of course they are in different directories that allow this. I suspect it is Microsoft Backup since that is the only backup application that I ever recall using.

They do all sit in a directory titled "Backup" with the $C and $D drive underneath it.

Please call if you think you can help get the drive working on my XP machine.
