I have installed a new SBS 2003 server that is working quiet ok by now. One of the few things left is a problem with the clock on my Windows XP clients, the time is incorrect.
In the DHCP scope I have entered 004 Time Server with my SBS IP address. The time on my SBS is mentioned correct, still clients get the wrong time settings. How can I get my clients to fetch the correct time from my SBS?

Is the W32Time service (Windows clock) active on your SBS ?

Hope This Helps, PH.

yep W32Time is running.

Actually I am looking now for an external time synchronisation with an atomic clock. Anybody any experience. I am still googling arround but I guess I will find something. Still I appreciate your input.

They shouldn't be. In an AD environment, clients sync their time to the holder of the PDC Emulator FSMO role (typically the first DC in the environment - in your case, the SBS box). Time sync is automatic. You just need to make sure your SBS box is syncing time with an external time source. I have probably 400 PDC emulators pointing at tick.usno.navy.mil without a problem.

Having your clients check an external source is not only asking for trouble, it's wasting your bandwidth.

Correct 58sniper. I expressed myself wrong. But I meant that XP clients now get time synch via SBS. SBS is synchronising via external source.
