We have DHCP scope of 40 addresses however, when I view server statistics it shows 35 addresses in use but when I view address leases it only shows 6 or so addresses in use. Can anyone tell me how to resolve this conflict?

PhilTidwell,

Does your DHCP server show leases assigned to 35 different MAC addresses?

It is possible to have 35 current DHCP leases, with only 6 of those leases active.

Does the dhcp server have a fixed ip, and is it possible you've got a rogue dhcp server in house? I've seen both cause this kind of problem. The server HAS to have a fixed ip. I'm not sure why the rogue server caused this kind of problem, but I remember it did. New user brought in a laptop and plugged it in.

Thanks for the replies. I found the problem. We have just relocated into new corporate offices and installed wireless routers while our main servers were being moved and setup. The wireless network was setup without security so we were effectively "sharing" our network with the whole building.
Security has been resolved and that took care of the DHCP issue.
