I have 2 servers - 1 is the DC running AD, the other is a member server running DHCP (will be used for RIS). When I try to authorize DHCP, I receive the message "specified servers already present in the directory service". When I select manage authorized servers, the DHCP server appears in the list, but it always has a red down arrow and it always seems to be unauthorized under the console. I have tried to log in to DHCP as a client to no avail. I am logged in as administrator of the server running AD and I have set all scopes and leases up. The event viewer keeps saying it has determined it is not authorized to service clients. What Up ?

Just to clarify what Wardo said, there are 2 steps in firing up your DHCP server (1) authorize the server (2) Activate the scope. Both commands can be accessed via context menu.:-D Roger Newhall
