Okay..

I have defined by the flippn book the options required..

PC Scope has the following options
3 router = 172.xx.12.5
15 dns domain name = blank
176 Avaya Ip stuff = L2Q=1,L2QVLAN=77
6 dns servers= 172.xx.4.32, 172.xx.8.32
44 wins/nbns servers = same as 6
46 wins/nbt node type = 0x8
66 boot server host name=blank

Voice Scope has the following options
3 router =172.xx.12.5
66 boot server host=
176 Avaya Ip stuff= MCIPADD=172.27.19.88,TFTPSRVR=172.31.12.23
6 dns servers = same as pc scope
15 dns domain name = our . com
44 wins/nbns servers = same as dns
46 wins/nbt node type = 0x8

This is what the phone does..
Displays
DHCP: 1, 2, 3...secs
* to program

then the phone reboots

Then it displays
DHCP: 1, 2, 3, secs
VLAN=777

then it reboot, and repeats..ending with a statement that sez, ....

contact dhcp/tftp administrator l2Q params in options 43/176 or 4xxx scr file have looping condition.. then the whole kit and kahbudle start all over again..

Now I was able to get the IP phone to get a ip address from the PC lan by putting the MCIPADD option on the 176 option string, but the avaya manual states that we should try to avoid sharing the same Ip scope.. ( if someone could explain, the "why" I would appreciate it ) ..

I don't know much about DCHP Scopes, but don't you need the L2Q stuff in your 176 statement??

Where did you find that information? I have been looking for some decent documentation for DHCP scopes. Would you be able to put a link to that, or send it to me?

Thanks
