Hello,

Basically, I am asking how to set a DHCP range specific to AVAYA IP phones (we are using the 5610 and 5620 models).
They are working ok, but they are going into my full DHCP range and I would like to constrict that.

Any suggestions?
It's much appreciated!

The only way to do what you are asking is to reserve addresses for the phones in DHCP.

This involves entering the MAC address of each phone in DHCP.

The other option is to setup a separate VLAN and Subnet for the phones if you switches support it.

thanks paul
i am new to the system, so i was under the impression that the IP Office router was able to give out IP addresses to its phone system.

but, your explanation has cleared things up for me.

thanks for the information! it is appreciated

The IPOdoes have an inbuilt DHCP server but it is appaling & should not be used except in the most limited of circumstances

it can only handle 5 simultanious requests for IP addresses before it will iussue duplicates
