Hi.
Is there anybody who has configure DHCP option 43 in a Novel nettwork?
We are using DHCP-servers for Windows at one location, but we have one location whish we still have Novel and i have to configure option 43 at this places.

Is there someone who can give me some help?

We have MX-one 3.1 in a multilim system, one location with DHCP from Windows and one location with DHCP from Novel??
I want one SW-server with config file and sw.
I use DBC 42502 and 42202 IP-phones
We use Cisco switches in our network strukture.

Tank you for the answer.
We have an old verson og Novel and we are going too get a new plattform soon where we going for windows plattform.
We get a message from Novel that we have to uppgrade the Novel DHCP, and since we are going to change the plattform we wait for this option.
In this case we are going to have the Ip-telephone and the PC in the same VLAN since there are few users here in this moment.

Do you have config IP phones where you have several configurations files and many diffrent VLAN without option 43?
We have a nettwork with many VLAN, and we are using both IP version 1 and 2 phones.
We use the same switch-port for IP-telephone and the PC, the PC are getting connection from the PC-port at the IP-telephone.
In IP-phone 42502 its ok, but in 42501 we have problems, the vendor ID is not sending to the DHCP-server!
Do you have any solutions.

Grima.

I have have recently had to add ver 1 IP sets to my TSE 3.1 system and also have ver 2 IP sets.

there I a detailed explaination of how to set up option 43 in ALEX....(it can be tricky)
Mx-one telephony system/Installation/DBC42X/DHCP Server.
(read it carefully)
Do you have alex???

It also has details on how to get several different config file to work as well.

"There is no place like 127.0.0.1

I have Alex and i have read this dokuments. I have set the config i this order, but the software in ver 1 IP is not made for VLAN segmenttations (i think) and we have problems to get the right info from/to DHCP-server.

We are going to replace the ver 1 IP and get only ver 2 IP, and we have to replace about 250 Ver 1 IP.

Ver 2 IP seams ok, and this ver is very stabil, we dont have any propblems with this ver.

have you tryied putting the ver 1 config boot and applic
files in the directory only??

"There is no place like 127.0.0.1

you can set VLAN manually in the config file for the subnet/phone type, but if this is also sent from DHCP it is over-written. If you remove VLAN from option 43 string it will go with config file VLAN, if this helps. Version 1 phones were a problem, to use DHCP, use Version 2 phones.

Hi.
The config boot, lang and applic are directly under the the config file is under the folder for the accurat ip range for the VLAN its connectet too.

And yes we hope we can remove all the vers 1 IP-app, but here coms cost inn, ca. kr. 1000,- pr IP-app (DBC 42202) and we have ca. 250 vers 1 IP-app??

Is there anybody of you who has used DNS SRV resource records? This function is only avalible for DBC 42x02 IP-app, and we dont need to use option 43 in DHCP. But we we needs that DHCP points out yhe DNS server.

Hi

I was not asking if your IIS folders are correct, but if you have the VLAN entered in the config file and not sent from DHCP then the phone will enter the VLAN in config (for you type 1 phones),

Hi
You mean like this, se under from the config file for an ver 1 Ip-phone

[L2QOS]
MIIPort=6,526 ;prio (0-7) ,VID(1-4095) ,(DPS_silsand)
;PCPort=0,2 ;prio (0-7) ,VID(1-4095)
LANPort=1,0 ;MAC based VLAN/802.1Q based VLAN , untagged/unmodified PC originating traffic

yes, if you do not sent VLAN id in option 43, v1 phone should go in VLAN 526. If you send VLAN from DHCP it will over-write this setting.
