Hi,

sorry for my bad english ;)

I have a dhcp server of linux OS with avaya phone : 9620L. (this dhcp is the dhcp of my computer).
This dhcp linux is in my vlan data, and must send a vlanid=2 to theses phones (ipbx is in vlan=2 and the ipbx is the dhcp for theses phones ; the dhcp of ipbx send ip callserver, etc...)
This dhcp of linux server send VLANID=2 with "option 242".
- Phones find this dhcp linux : OK
- Phones find the VLANID=2 : OK
- Phones queries the dhcp ipbx in vlanid=2 : OK
Problem : phones find this dhcp linux BUT somes phones dont "go" to the vlan 2 ... :( somes phones works well, and somes phones (same model, same firmware, same vlan) dont works and loop in the dhcp linux.

Thank for your help

Could it be that the handsets that don't work are a on different switch and the DHCP relay/helper isn't setup/working on that switch? :)

Clear the phones and see what happens then.

Press the "mute" button and type 25327 and #
This will clear everything on the phone so you need to enter the extension again.

See what happens now.

PS can you provide the dhcpd.conf file?

Thank kwing112000,

A Avaya patch exist for this problem
"When a customer is upgrading 9600 IP Telephone that has come straight from the factory with R3.125 firmware on it and upgrades to 3.1 GA or 3.1 based firmware; the phone will be stuck on the data VLAN and will not move to the voice VLAN. The issue occurs during the upgrade process after the phone takes the newer boot application file. Once saved, the phone will not be able to move from the data VLAN to the voice VLAN.
This issue has been addressed with a firmware patch available from the link below. This patch must be placed on the customer’s
fileserver, when upgrading phones that have come straight from the factory with 3.125."

But now i have some phones that are "ACK ERROR" when boot on voice vlan...
