I received the following message and wonder if anyone knows what it is:

DHCP received an unknown option 002 of length 004.

DHCP received an unknown option 004 of length 008.

rranger,
Do you have RAS set up on this server and are you using DHCP to assign the ip to the dial-in. If so, this is a known issue from MS. Change the RAS connections from DHCP to a static asigned pool.
This can also be caused by DHCP spoofing on a router.

I had found that error message too refering to RAS but I don't have RAS loaded. Thats why I was stumped. The server is getting its number via DHCP however.
ok, so DHCP server is not running on this box?

That is correct. I talked to our Systems Manager and he thinks that since the DHCP server is a non NT box (its a DEC/Compaq Alpha) that the NT box is not knowledgeable about some of the options that the Alpha is sending it.

Just to clarify, the NT Server is the receiver of the DHCP not the server in this case.

What service packs have been applied to NT?
