Hi,

I have a couple servers in my domain with static IPs set up on them, yet my DHCP server is still trying to assign multiple IPs to them. If I look in the DHCP manager I notice that it will attempt to assign a server IP addresses 192.168.0.113, 192.168.0.114, 192.168.0.115 and so on. There are multiple entries in the DHCP manager and they all have little yellow telephones in the icon/indicators. Any help would be much appreciated, thx

Oh, and I suppose I should add that the static IP that I assigned to this machine is outside the scope I have assigned to the DHCP server.

Thx again

Do you have some RRAS or VPN solution served on that box that might be grabbing IPs for connecting remote users?

Yes, on the box that keeps getting assigned IPs, I have Terminal services and RAS runing.

I'm not an RRAS expert, nor do I play one on TV. But I bet that it's grabbing addresses to give to remote clients. YMMV.

58sniper,

You should play one on TV...The "little yellow telephones in the icon/indicators" show that they are being used for RRAS.

Cheers for your help, as I mentioned, the icon beside the assigned IP in DHCP Manager has a little telephone, I suppose that's indicating that it's remote. I'm going to shut down any remote access servers on it and see if it still assigns any more.

I think you're spot on the money sniper - I stopped the RAS Services and it's no longer being assigned IPs. Thanks and good luck with your television/film career.
