DHCP Access Denied in Windows 2003 2

I´have a windows 2003 Entherprise with Active Directory...

Before im promote the server to Domain controller, the DHCP Client worked fine, with the user NT Autorithy\networkservice

Now when i star the service it apers "Error 5 Access Denied"

Because of the user NT Autorithy\networkservice

Whow can i change this user to the DHCP Client stars working...

The DHCP Serve is already starting First!!!

The service maybe started but on 2003 you need to authorise the DHCP server, have a look in the DHCP snapin and see if the server has a red mark next to it.

The DHCP is Authorised in the Active Directory..
And the DHCP Server is Runnig with no problems...

Only when i trie to star the DCHP Client, it gives me the Error "Access Denied".

First, what is the client os? Is it only one client? What does ipconfig /all show on the client. Need a little more info. Thanks.

It sounds like you are trying to run the DHCP client on the machine running the DHCP server, its only what it sounds like.

Open the DHCP Client service poperties inside services. Check the "path to executable" it should be C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe -k NetworkService
If not open regedit and browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Dhcp
and correct the "Image Path" parameter to be the same as stated above.

You shuld also ensure that the "Network Service" has the right to log on as a service in the default domain controler GPO

The user "network service" do not exist in a domain controller only in a stand alone server

So whow do i ensure that the "network Service" has right to log on as a service in the default domain controller???

a domain controller cannot be a dhcp client, which is WHY you have this problem. This is intentional. It must always have a stsic ip address

Ahh it was along the lines of what I was thinking.

You are correct, a DC cannot be a DHCP client. So with that said, the dhcp client service (which is not starting and is the problem)runs on all windows 2003 servers (members, standalone, DHCP servers and DC). It updates IP addresses and DNS records for all computers. I am looking at my DC's and it is running on all of them [check your DCs to see for yourself]. The dc's use the following to start the service "NT AUTHORITY\NetworkService". Open AD USers and computers, make sure you the view is set to "advance features". Right click the domain controller OU, select properties and then open Group Policy. Edit the default domain controller policy. "computer configuration>>windows settings>>security settings>>Local Policy>>users rights assignment>>log on as a service...add "Network Service" if it is not there.

The "NETWORK SERVICE" is there, but the problem persists...
