Hello - I am using a Cisco switch as a DHCP server for Avaya IP phone. I setup the 242 option for the 9600 series phones and it seems to work. I plug the phone in, it gets the VLAN and DHCP info and works normally.
option 242 ascii "MCIPADD=10.1.4.5,10.1.4.6,MCPORT=1719,HTTPSRVR=10.1.1.80,httpdir=avaya,L2Q=0,L2QVLAN=26"

I am trying to get the same working for the 4600 phones with a 176 string. I have tried several different settings with no luck. The only way it will boot is if I manually enter the VLAN on the phone.

Any suggestions ?

For the 176 you might consider doing the following.

Default/Data VLAN - 176 option is as follows.
L2Q=0,L2QVLAN=26

Voice VLAN as follows - If not using VLAN's do not use the L2Q settings at all.
MCIPADD=10.1.4.5,10.1.4.6,MCPORT=1719,HTTPSRVR=10.1.1.80,httpdir=avaya

L2Q might need to be a 1, not sure.

Just a guess, not sure if the version of your 46xx phones support http. I think the very first 46xx phones did not support http only tftp. Instead of using http, try and use tftp server
