On my switch we have a
SPN 0 <----- (dial 9 0)

DMI 10

anyway this calls 1-800 collect. If i understand DGT correctly, the 18666564534 is inserted before the 0 so the actual call on the PRI is 18666464534 0. should i del the leading 0?

As I follow it, the configuration has been set up so that

AC1 = 9, then 0 (SPN 0) and 18666564534 (DMI 10) is used. i.e.

9018666564534 is sent out to line.

In DMI 10 your settings which are..

DMI 10
DEL 0 ######## (Means that no digits are deleted!) ########
ISPN NO
INST 18666564534
CTYP NCHG

I hope this clears things up for you. I've got an excel tool that might give you a clearer picture of your networking setup.

9 would not be sent out the line - it is the AC1 code.

i did a trace and it looks like the insert happens before the 0.

Sorry, I forgot to delete the initial "9".

what i am asking is:
should i change the DMI to look like this?

DMI 10
DEL 1 <--------------(to remove the 0)
ISPN NO
INST 18666564534
CTYP NCHG

the trace says it is sending a 0 at the end of the string. It is working now, it just seems like bad practice to send unneeded or ignored digits.

Yes, if DEL = 1 then the SPN of "0" won't be sent out to line. Only 18666564534 will be sent.

I would change to DEL 1 as you are suggesting.
You can run into problems because the digits are sent on a PRI trunk as a complete string. If the carrier is examining the complete digit string then it could reject the call because it is not a "valid" number - at least not for North America.
Apparently it is working okay for you now but that could change if you switch carriers or they change their routing rules.
