Im trying the hardest not to get mad at it, but no matter what i do i cant get it to setup replication right. Im trying to replicate between 2 servers, 1 is a file server here at corporate and the other is a DC with file server at a remote site. Everytime i set it up following the instructions and stuff on microsoft's website it tells me i dont have the right permissions to opent the folder. Even if i try and open the local folder thats shared thru DFS on the server itself it says i dont have permission to open it. Its apperantly changing all the permissions because after i setup replication thast when it happens. i can create the namespaces successfully, but the moment after i setup replication it changes the folder permissions and locks everyone out from even opening it.

Why is it doing this?

What replication type you have set?

DFS will modify the permissions on the new DFS root target according the parent DFS root target.

Have you verified the permissions set on the parent DFS root target.

Thanks,

Keshav

well the parent of the target would be th permissions on the drive itself, true?

i set it to multipurpose replication group since i want the content between the two servers to be replicated.

How are you seting up the folders?

HQServer
Path
d:\DFSROOT\sales (NTFS Permissions sales people)

Shared \\HQServer\sales$ (Hidden Share Permissions Everyone change)

LocalServer
Path
d:\DFSROOT\sales (NTFS Permissions sales people)

Shared \\LocalServer\sales$ (Hidden Share Permissions Everyone change)

Domain DFS root

\\domain\corp

Folder Target Sales (share Permissions Everyone change)
\\HQServer\sales$
\\LocalServer\sales$

users would then access the sales data from

\\domain\corp\sales (share Permissions allow remote access)

you should now have

\\domain\corp namespace
sales folder target on two servers

and then turn on replication
