Hello Everybody,

I have a strange problem when I do a df -Ik of a particular filesystem, it says that there is approx. 90Mb used while there is nothing in the filesystem. I have tried a fsck on that filesystem and no problems, did a fuser /dev/filesystem and no processes that maybe had a unlinked file. Then I have removed the filesystem + logical volume and created it again and still 90Mb used space, but there is nothing in the filesystem!

Who can help me with this?

Thanks in advance,
Rudy

How big is your filesystem ?
you have to remember that inodes will take up some space so you won't actually get the full amount of space .

Thanks DSMARWAY, the inodes where the "problem", it was a filesystem for oracle datafiles, and it was accidentely made with nbpi 4096 and it has to be 32K or more....

RBOLLEN, I had met the familiar problem as yours several days before. When I delete a abnormal file in the /cicslog which was over 2GB, and used df -k to check the space, it did not free the space. So I had to use fuser killing all the processes linked with the filesystem, after that, I umount it and mount it again. I gain the space.

Hello ddlldd2000!

Your problem was also the first thing what I thought the problem was, but is was not. Anyway thanks for your reaction.
