When trying to access the tape to, initialize, backup, restore, or identify. I receive the following message.
"the device received an invalid command 05-20-23-00-8081"

We are running nt workstation, backup exec. 4.5a, We have used the product successfully for several years without a
problem.
We have purchased new tapes recently with little help.

The problem was intermittent, until recently, We were able to backup after either. Shut down & restart, Initializing, and or retensioning the tapes.

We now only receive the above message.

What type of tape drive are you using? What type of tape are you using and what size? Is it a scsi drive? Is it properly terminated and are your cables good?
