I have to admit, I'm confused. My company has CF MX server installed and I've been using Homesite 5 to develop templates. If I want to upgrade to the latest CF developer software, do I have to purchase Dreamweaver MX? I believe that Macromedia's Coldfusion MX is now the server. Anyone out there clarify this for me?

Well, Dreamweaver 8 is newer than Dreamweaver MX, but you don't have to upgrade.

You can get the new tag information for Homesite to color code and hint.

Another option is Eclipse with CFEclipse plugin. (free)

Look at the features of Dreamweaver and see if the new features are something worth the money, otherwise I would try eclipse first and maybe you can save some money.

I'm using CFMX 7 and I code with HomeSite+. Like Kris said, I just downloaded the extensions and updates from Macromedia.

Hope This Helps!

heck, im still on cfstudio 5 with the tag updates for MX 7

Whats tha major differences in homesite+?

Nothing. It's the exact same product, HomeSite just has a red logo where CF Studio has a Blue one. HomeSite+ is what would have been CF Studio 6 if they wouldn't have tried to force everyone to use DreamWeaver.

Thanks everyone for your responses. Will download Eclipse and give it a try. Web articles appear to be positive and you can't beat the price.

I knew that about CFS5 and HS, but never used HS+ to see a difference. Does macromedia still provide HS+ on the Dreamweaver disc?

Yes. Just installed MX8 and Homesite was on the disc.
