Hi there,

I need to install the kernel source on a RH7.3 server but the rpm is failing due to a missing dependency gcc >= 2.96-98 I assume this is because I don't have any developer packages installed. Problem is I don't know the name of any developer packages that come with RH7.3 and therefore don't know which rpm to install! Can someone please name one for me so I can install it's rpm.

Thanks in advance,

Glenn

Install from updates directory instead.

cpp-2.96-113.i386.rpm
gcc-2.96-113.i386.rpm
gcc-c++-2.96-113.i386.rpm
glibc-devel-2.2.5-43.i386.rpm
glibc-kernheaders-2.4-7.16.i386.rpm
kernel-source-2.4.20-19.7.i386.rpm
libstdc++-devel-2.96-113.i386.rpm

I think it should be enough; if some packages will complain about missing resources/files, try to use rpmfind.net - it will tell you the name of package this resource belongs to. You will find all packages on RedHat's ftp site or its mirrors.
