Determine when is the OS first installed

Hi All:

Is there any file reside in the System32 or some folder that enable us to determine when the Windows OS is installed ? (for NT/2000/XP if possible)

another thing, is there a time line infomration posted any where for when intel or AMD release its processor ?

i.e, something like

Pentimum II 450Mhz released in Feb 1999
Pentimum III 600Mhz release in 2000
