Determine Processor Speed thru Win98

I'm sure the answer must be simple but that hasn't prevented me from finding it...

How can you determine the processor speed through Win98?

I thought something like mmsinfo32.exe might supply it, but apparently not!

Just check the boot up screen, or if you want to know what processor you have, should be printed on the Intel sticker on the front/side of your machine!!

also typing in winver in the run dialog will give you some system information.. Jay~

Go to Start, Programs, Accesories, System Tools, System Information. Then, with System Summary selected on the left, in the right pane is a line titled Processor. At the end of this line, the speed of the processor will be listed.

Checking the boot screen does tell you the clock speed, however all Windows will tell you is processor type e.g. PIII, however it does not state clock speed.

Any ideas?

Someone else here posted a trick I hadn't heard of before: type dxdiag in the run box to launch DirectX Diagnostic Tool. The "system" tab displays various info about your PC, including the processor. It usually lists the clock speed.

Just do it the easy way. Take the system appart, remove the heatsink and read what Intel/AMD wrote on there.
