Detection of Windows 'Desktop' location? 3

What is the best method that one could use for determining what the current user's Windows 'Desktop' folder is? If I only had users that had Win 98/95 machines, the I could juse default to c:\windows\profiles\username\desktop\, but there are some who are on Windows2000/XP, and those have a completely different area for the 'Desktop' folder.

There has got to be an API or something that can return what the current 'Desktop' folder is.

You might want to try using the Windows Script Host Object Model. You will need to include the following reference into the project:

On a Windows 98, 2000, and *some* NT 4.0 PCs...
...a .MDE (compiled Access database) experienced an automation error at the declaration line, and the program never got the needed info.
...a .MDB (non-compiled database experienced a CRASH at the declaration line; 'nuff said.

On most of our NT 4.0 machines, it worked beautifully.


I'm still looking for an API or useful Registry setting... -- C Vigil =)
