Hi,

Under Internet Options->Advanced->HTTP 1.1 Settings

Is there a way we can detect if the settings have been enabled or disabled?

Thanks

Using javascript - not without some form of ActiveX trickery. Which will then require your solution to work in IE for windows only, AND it will pop up that security warning that all ActiveX objects do when invoked informing the user that they may be under attack.

I'd say all that is more trouble than it's worth. Why exactly do you need to detect their internet settings anyway?

well we have a flash media player, which is parsing information from some other site. In order to interact properly the HTTP1.1 setting should be enabled on the client site.

If we detect HTTP1.1 is not enabled, then we just need to prompt a window saying: 'Please anable etc..' or 'just forward them to to new page'

And what if the users don't even have flash installed on their machine? If I were you I would just put a message at the top of the screen whether or not they have the required settings initialized. Something like "This page requires Flash version xxx and HTTP1.1 settings enabled." And then give them a download link for flash and possibly a page detailing how to enable HTTP1.1. Will people see that message even if they meet both criteria? Unfortunately, yes. But that's how most other sites that require flash do it anyway.

I'm sorry, but there's no secret javascript command to do what you're asking, or an equivalent of a <noscript> tag. Not without going the ActiveX route, and that will likely just turn users away from your site.

if they do not have flash.. the error message is being displayed.... if they do have flash.. it will start playing player.. however, if they do not have HTTp 1.1 enabled, then the content being parsed may be wrong..

but thanks anyway for your help
