Detail record repeats on following page

I have a report with several groups. None are set to keep together or repeat header on each page.

The details section works fine, except in some cases where the bottom of the section seems to hit exactly the bottom of the page (actually the top of page header). Then, that last detail, which did print out fine on page one, repeats on page 2.

If I adjust the size of the section, it goes away on the data I am testing. But the data changes daily, so if the size just happened to hit that tipping point again, I'm afraid it would print on end of page one / beginning of page two again.

Strange thing to me is that it reprints the entire details section. Nothing appears to be cut off. If I tell it to suppress if the key is equal to the previous key, it ignores it -- it thinks it never printed the record in the first place.

This is crystal 8.5. I'm stumped.

Did you ever get this fixed? I am having the same issue, I did notice that one field on my detail row has the Can grow checked with no limit and am wondering if this has caused the issue.

Taking a second look at the original post, I notice it is saying "suppress if the key is equal to the previous key", as if the detail section occurred several times and you were suppressing some.

If that is the method, then it would be better to group using the key and move 'details' to the group header, hiding the details themselves.

That doesn't explain why it loses it across a page, but it should solve the problem.

ok, I have the last two rows on one page repeating at the top of the next page. I have done some different sorts so that these detail rows would move around on the page. When they are moved up they are no longer repeating so I know it doesn't have anything to do with joins or data. Has anyone had this issue or have any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help.

Tenloe,

I found this on Crystal's knowledbase as a bug. I didn't keep the bug # because I can't use it -- I have an OEM crystal. (I actually did download the 8.5 bug fix and try it even though they say not to for OEM, but it didn't work).

This was at a customer and I can't check my file to see fo sure, but I think what I wound up doing was telling it to keep together, saved it, and then got rid of keep together again. (Maybe something was corrupted?) Now it prints "ugly", with breaks in the data where I'd rather a new page, but at least I'm not getting the double-data.
