I have one machine on our network which is running Windows XP. I would like to set up a mapping to a remote machine(not at the same location) which is running Windows NT. However, when I go into the network connections the Windows NT machine is not visible. I have tried Pinging it and I get the message Destination host unreachable. There are also other machines on my network which cannot see the Windows NT machine. I am unable to access the Windows NT machine to check its settings. Does anyone have any ideas how I can solve this

if you know the ip address and cant ping the machine try runing a tracert to see if you can get to the machine but it is set up to not return a ping. The tracert will fail but you will get some idea if it is on the network or not. how are the machines connected? is there a firewall stoping ping in the middle - look at netstat -nr to see if you have a route to the other network

hope some of this helps
