A really confusing issue...!

One of our clients in the Caribbean has a DSL conncetion, static IP address, Small Business Server 2003 environment.

In general they can access the vast majority of websites and email servers, HOWEVER they cannot access some of them - the more notable ones being Network Solutions and Yahoo.com (as well as Tek-Tips.com!).

DNS is working fine, the addresses are resolved correctly, but when using Pingplotter from their site, after about 9 through 15 hops (depending the site), the Destination Address Unreachable message comes up.

At this stage they are in either Sprintlink or Level3, so it does seem very strange for this to occur here

This is specifically related to their specific ADSL circuit. The company next door to them, also with an ADSL circuit from the same provider, is not experiencing this problem.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
DNS is fine
Firewall is not blocking the transaction

Thanks

Richard

Contact the DSL provider and have them fix the problem. There is nothing you can do on your end to change the route taken.

Thanks for the input - unfortunately they justb state that all their traffic is routed out through the same circuits so there is nothing they can do!

Very frustrating....

Richard

Post traceroute outputs to tek-tips.com from both the working ADSL circuit and non-working ADSL circuit for analysis.

OK - here it is...

FIRST is the problem site...

Trace complete.

As you can see the initial routes are the same.

This type of problem occurs at different hops with different domains - for example Yahoo.com tends to bomb out at hop 14...

I am tearing my hair out - as they are - Fedex.com is one of the sites they cannot access and it is a big deal for them.

I will be contacting Sprint and Level3 (Yahoo.com seems to fall out in the Level3 hops.

All suggestions welcome

Thanks

Richard

Send these results to Sprint. Hop 9 is where you're failing.
