DeskTop Messenging

A customer had DeskTop Messenging working just fine on a NAM3G s/w4.0.04C using Win98. Someone upgraded the computer's OS to Win2K and now it doesn't work. I've not seen a patch for DeskTop Messenging and wondered if compatiblity mode is the answer.

Can you use compatiblity mode in the properties of an executable file to make it work as if it were Win98 for DeskTop Messenging? If so, specifically what executable file would you put in this mode?

Desktop Messaging or MSN Chat must be reinstalled. Microsoft had to take it out to comply with Antitrust regulations, but it is included again in XP Home or Professional. The key will be the settings which may have got lost in the upgrade. If you don't know them find another 98 box and match those settings in the 2K box.
