Desktop Messaging Issues

We just upgraded to a new switch. (Avaya CS 1000) and Call Pilot 5. Desktop messaging has been activated however after I listen to the voicemail through Outlook, the Message Indicator light on the phone continues to blink and the CP MWI icon (on my PC taskbar)says that I still have a message waiting.

The only way I can get the light to go out on my phone and MWI icon is to check my voicemail through my phone and to clear out the message.

Has anyone seen this behaviour before?

Is this true desktop messaging or are you using the Message Forwarding Rule, MFR? There is a section in the DTR, 6.14.1, which addresses the read receipt issue when using MFR. I have not seen this with the desktop messaging client.

It is true Desktop Messaging. (I had to install the client software to intergrate with Outlook)

I have been reading through the documentation and it "seems" like I have to also have "My Callpilot" installed as well. I noticed a spot for the "My Callpilot" URL in the Message Waiting Indicator config so perhaps the command to delete the voice mail and turn off the phone indicator light goes through My Callpilot? I assume My Callpilot is an ASP page?

No, MyCallPilot is not required. Looks like you may have an issue with the integration as the MWI should go out on both the phoneset and the task tray icon when the message is opened. When you delete the message from the inbox it will place it in the deleted items folder and not remove it from the CallPilot server until the deleted items folder is emptied. Is it possible that you are just deleting it without reading it?

Thank you for that information Barnie,

I have tested it a number of ways including emptying the "Deleted Items" folder. Each time I have listened to the message first. I also noticed the Edit option in the player gave me an option to "Mark as Unread" which tells me the message has been read.

Do you happen to know how the command it sent back to CallPilot to delete the message? What happens behind the scenes? when you listen to the message is the comment sent back through exchange?

We are not using the SSL option however our mail server is set up as an authenticated server.

I have also tried using an unauthenticated mail server as well as changing everything to the SSL option. (This did not work either)

The communication is via IMAP, so it should be getting marked on the server when it is read. I would get a case open with Avaya.

This trace begins with receiving a message, playing it and then attempting to delete.
