Configuring a brand new Gateway E-2100, Celeron 2.6G, 256 MB sdram, 40 Gb Ultra ATA HD with XP Pro on a Windows 2000 local network.

Installed eTrust InoculateIT 6.0 and selected the "Reboot now" option when the install finished up.

Computer locked up while trying to shut down...I waited about 5 minutes before killing the power just to make sure it was really locked up.

The computer now has problems loading Windows when trying to log in with network accounts.

It seems to work okay in safe mode with network support.

It will also load Windows normally with the local owner (non-networked) account.

All normal logins using any accounts on the network domain just load the desktop background, play the startup sound, and stop.

No icons, no task bar...just the background and the startup music.

Clicking with the mouse has no effect (both right and left buttons).

CTRL/ALT/DEL will bring up the security window once...but none of the options on it seem to work...including shutdown. Clicking CTRL/ALT/DEL a second time does nothing.

Any ideas?

Have you tried removing eTrust InoculateIT 6.0?

Or some setting in the virus scanner, for example -

Q: When running the 6.0 product on Win 9x machines, it stops Neware Login Script from running and clients have no drive mappings. If InoculateIT is removed, the mappings return.

A: Open the Realtime Monitor and under the Advanced Tab uncheck Protect Network Driver. It will not hamper the functionality of the product on the Local machine as it will disable scanning of network drives.

You may find some solution via the programs Support and Help Section.
