Recently the desktop icons (Win2k op sys) have been behaving wierd. For example the shortcut icon for Regcleaner on the desktop now looks like Installshield although when I click on it, Regcleaner program opens. It has occurred with other icons on the desktop also. Anyone know what this is about?

I think you are talking about win log box
with (ie programe name.exe) if that is the problem
You have some old sofware or bugs on your system
bad hard disk with bad tracks
you have mbr go out and get a ext hard drive
backup your system and format
try rebooting system
