A program called BugMeNot which supposedly removes the need to register on newpaper sites was installed on one of my computers. The only files I could find to uninstall was in the offline webpages. Nothing in the add/remove programs in the control panel. It placed a large square icon on the desktop and I cannot find out how to get it off. Any ideas? Please?

BugMeNot is not an application that is installed on machines, take a look at for details. I'm guessing the user has created a shortcut such as the ones suggested on the FAQ page.

See if active desktop is running as the user could have added the shortcut as an active desktop page.

Mabye try going into start>run>msconfig, clicking on the startup tab, and seeing if you can see it in there. If so, untick it and reboot. I had a guy with some spyware related shortcut that kept reappearing on his desktop every time he restarted his machine, unchecking it from the startup list in the system config utility sorted it.
