Hi

not quite sure what the right question is but on my vista based PC when I have multiple open windows and press the desktop icon they windows animate into 3d windows at 45 degrees on the desktop.

A client has complained that theirs does not. I checked the theme and aero is selected.

Am I looking in the wrong place

thanks

Ian

I think it is your machine that is behaving oddly rather than the client's; I wasn't aware there was a way of getting this view to work from an icon without the aid of 3rd party software. The normal way to get that view up (called "Flip 3D") is to press Windows Key + TAB (or Windows Key + CTRL + TAB for a sticky version)

I don't think you're clicking the "show desktop" icon, though you think you are. There is a shortcut key that is installed by default on some Vista editions - perhaps just some OEM, not sure, that gives you the same windows flip deal. I know I've seen both side by side in the quick launch area of the task bar.

Hi

solved it, the latest vista update - updated the video card, I reverted to the supplied driver and all is now working

thanks all

Ian

Yeah, it seems that many issues have been caused by using Windows Update for video drivers. I've had several systems take those updates with no problems, but I've seen some just go to pot from using the Windows update video drivers. I know I've learned this lesson - that if I have any concern for the computer at hand, to absolutely not use Windows Update for the video drivers. [thumbsup2]
