I have been using tables to align my content. I would like to use layers as in page layout programs. Has anyone had experience using layers in Dreamweaver for example. I know that Internet Explorer lower than 4.0 won't handle layers but who is still using anything lower than 4 anyway?

I have never used layers but, have you considered using CSS ?

just a thought

By layers I presume you mean divs positioned with CSS?
Use CSS if you have the browsers to test in otherwise I would stick with tables for now as they are more stable.
The current worst browser is IE.

Less than 4? I don't support anything less that the latest, but that's just me. I wrote off v4 browsers a long time ago.

The last site i developed (follow the link in my sig) I did using CSS and divs. It was slightly trickier using divs than the stuff I'd done previously with tables (such as but having used divs and css I much prefer it.

In my opinion using divs makes my page more flexible. It also makes it more accessible.

IE does seem to lag a little bit behind but I achieved everything i wanted

Pardon my ignorance but what is divs and css. I think css stand for cascading style sheets, but what is it?

CSS controls the presentation and layout of html elements such as divs headers paragraphs etc. Each webpage is created with HTML elements, the page is essentially linked to 1 CSS sheet which essentially defines the presentation for each page which links to it.
Ok, now a great definition but maybe it helps.
