Got a design question..

I have a Wall Street client who just recently converted to a PRI circuit MICS 6.1. The client has two companies which can not be mixed together. They have to show caller ID information when placing a call. What is the best course of action for caller id to show up on a persons phone based on which company they want to be percieved as?

You'll have to find out if the LEC/CLEC will allow you to change the name associated with the sending CLID. The 'default' is to show the single billing company name. Most LEC's won't, some CLEC's will

If you go to terminals and sets, under line access you can set the oli to be the number of the different companies on a per set basis. That number will be displayed to the caller at the other end.

Yes... . I know but my design question is what happens when you want to have two outgoing numbers showing on a single phone. The only design that I can come up with is having the client purchase a additional POTS Line then instead of using the "9" to get out on the PRI for company 1 they press "8" to get for company 2!

Any other suggestions?

If you manage to get the name-per-DID thing worked out, the only other option I can think of is to do a loop around from trunk ports to ATA ports or ASM ports, then you can program the 'other' OLI on the ATA ports.....

If they really did not want to put out their number on caller id. I think you could go in and put a non-telephone shortnend number in each telephones OLI. This would never display a number, valid that is, could use only area code, to caller-id.

unless you're getting service from a LEC or CLEC that would default to sending the 'main bill' number if they receive invalid CPN/OLI from the customer equipment. I've seen that with Verizon, and it definitely happens on my PRI to Focal.... if they don't believe the number belongs to 'you' the substitute the main bill.
