Design Issue

Hi,

As I mentioned earlier, I need to develop phone simulation silimar to one in below mentioned link.

Users need this type of application available on the web as well as available on the CD. With CD it should run on any machine with or without browser (as standalone application). What type of design should I consider ?

I really appreciate some suggestions.

Dave,

I sure remember you valuable responses to my previous posts.
This time my concern was will there be any performance issue if we implement this application fully in FLASH compare to HTML + Flash.

Performance issue? You mean cross-browser compatibility? A search in Macromedia's website should reveal all known issues, Colin Moock at

http://www.moock.org

also gives a few pointers. But then again, that's just Flash issues. Cross-browser HTML issues is another matter, and probably for the HTML forum rather than this one.

You might want to look into doing your stand alones as .app or .exe files. THis way, the flash player doesn't have to load up and you can also do more interesting things (like menu bars and stuff). You can publish to apps or exes in flash, but in my opinion they are second rate (you asked about design issues) so I'd recommend using Director. It's a big learning curve, but worth it. Go to the forum and browse through it and get an idea of the things that can be done.
