I think my question is a simple one:
If you select a group of objects, but there is an object or two within the group that you would like to de-select, how would you do it? Is there a way to pick those unwanted objects and deselect them, so you can perform a command on all the remaining objects?

Yes - depress the shift key while you pick (left click) an object will remove it from the selection set.

Thank you CarlAK. May I ask how you know this? Many tricks like this are not covered in the AutoDesk manuals or in classes. Did you learn AutoCAD on the versions before 2000? I feel very limited in my knowledge of commands having learned AutoCAD starting with 2000.
