deprecating interface in solaris

Hi

I have SUN E-450 system with SunOS 5.6 installed on it.
Two NIC are configured on it.As per customer requirement I want to deprecate one of the interface on it.
How should I start ?
Basically I don't know what is mean by deprecating inerface.
Can anyone help me on the same .

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Could it be duplicating, rather than deprecating, to provide resilience in the event of a NIC problem?

I presume it means to disable the interface. When something is deprecated it is obsolete.

To do that you would just ifconfig unplumb interface. You can get the correct interface name from the ifconfig -a output.

Then remove the /etc/hostname.interface file to prevent it being configured when the system boots.

Actually I already tried that,but as per customer it is not the exact way to deprecate the interface.
