I have a network in which I want all the compuers, whether new or old to have 3 certian pieces of software. Is there a way to setup through group policy automatic checking of if the software is installed, and then if it isnt to install it automatically, or if not automatically at least have the installer start when the user logs in? we only have one user account as well that is used by everyone.

I want to package such files as winzip and a spyware program.

Thanks

Hi nsg1000,
Solution 1:
If you are running Active Directory and Windows NT/2000/XP.
Then you can re-pack the applications with Winstle (included on the windows CD) to MSI installations and link them with a policy.
It will not work with win95/98, because then the client does not login to the network, only the user.

Solution 2:
Write a WMI script to inventory the installed programs and launch the setup if the program isn´t pressent.
Add the script to the login script.
This will not give you all the bennifits that MSI do, but it will work on all OS with WMI support and does not give you any problem with MSI re-packing.
