I'm using Wise Installmaker 8.1 and have just been clobbered by the installer sending out a setup with the vb6 vbajet32 but no expsrv.dll.

How can I see all the files it proposes installing and how it has created this list. That is what dependency files it uses or whatever.

This may also explain why it thinks that a 34Mb install is just fine!

Peter,

I don't have an answer to your questions, but I'm going to ask you a couple seeing as you're the only person I can find who's interested in Wise, so I hope you don't mind. My questions are:

1. How do you force Wise to allow a program to be installed ONLY to the PC's hard disk(s), and not to a network drive?

2. How do you remove ODBC entries with unwise.exe that were setup by a Wise installation?

Thanks,

No idea at all. I surmise by looking through the .wse file that sections can be added to do this sort of thing. I think if you buy the expensive version there is a lot more customising that can be done. Peter Meachem

Andrew,

You can use ROOTDRIVE property in WISE to define the drive to install to. It's built-in but not listed by default under the Properties list. Just go to Property and create it.

Use the Get System Information script action and choose Drive Type for Pathname from the Retrieve dropdown box.

The Get System Information will return one of the following letters as the value of the variable you specify.
N - if a network drive
H - if a harddisk
C - CD Rom drive
F - Floppy or removable disk.

The variable then can be used to conditionally control the install.
