I've got a BCM400 and a new i2004 IP phone.
I need to get into the services menu, but everytime I try to access one of the options, I get "Denied in Admin".
So, my question is, how do I allow it in the admin, or how do I log in to the set as an admin to config it?

I've tried **config as an admin on my older phone and tried to get to the options on the i2004 phone, but there is no services menu through that menu path.

Try logging with the following(assuming nobody modified the default..)
Feature **266344 then 738662 then 266344.That should bring you to "terminals and sets" from there go to any menu, it should work.

That won't get u to the services menu. Reset the phone, when u see Nortel on the screen press the 4 buttons under the screen from left to right quickly as u only have a few seconds. It'll then bring u into the services menu so u can program a static ip or set for dhcp, etc.

I think gberger was thing of "service modes" eg Night service.

Ok, let me narrow the scope of this down a bit. What I really need to do is get an auxillary ringer to work on an i2004 IP phone. In the BCM Element Manager, I have the auxillary ringer checked, but I don't think that makes any difference on these phones (I just saw a Nortel document that stated that the IP phones don't have this option). What I have is a ringer that is plugged into the headset jack. I was trying to get to the IP phone services menu (this is where you can set options like hotdesking, second button on the lower right of the phone). I can't remember the exact location of the option now now, but there is an option in there that let's you select the headset as the default. When I try to get to this menu, that's where I get denied in admin. That's what I'm trying to get access to.
This option is not available in the **config menu (although there is a services area there too)

I've tried setting the ring volume high to make sure the ringer device has enough power to detect the ring. I did see another post on here about this, one person said to open the phone and put some leads on the speaker wires...
Another person said to go into this menu and set the option I am trying to get to. Before I crack the phone open, I'd like to try the non-warranty-voiding method.

That Service feature only works on an I2004 when attached to a big switch, i.e., M1 or CSK1000.

Adversity is Opportunity

I got my problem solved. I had the phone cracked open and jumped onto the speaker wires. Had to set the paging group to blank, and turned off hands free so that morse code wouldn't come through the auxillary ringer...
