i'm trying to intepret the event data 2 cause value. (0x40F41) The DIAG info (4) should tell me the value thats the problem, ie a-law,u-law etc but i cant find the documentation to explain the DIAG part of the event data 2.

Anyone know where that is?

whatsanavaya,

a-law and mu-law are not bearer capability options, these are companding modes. avaya switches support two bearer capability modes: 3.1-khz and speech, changed on ds1 board screen. so this denial event should indicate that remote side of isdn link doesn't want to accept call with specified bearer capability. but that's theory. in real world, i've found that many telecom equipment deny calls with some abstract cause values, not really related to the denial reason. for example, cisco routers just love to send this cause value over ip trunk if there's something they don't like in call setup. and then you wonder what they mean. :/
describe your setup in more detail, please. where these events go from?

i have astreisk@home on an old pc connected to my s8700 for testing purposes. So the * link is an(ooh)H323 tie line.
just trying to make an external call from this trunk to my normal working PSTN trunk. just tried the other PSTN provider we have and they give this message

denial event 1189: Normal, unspecified D1=0x830045 D2=0x96021f

cm 2.1, PSTN trunk is ISDN30 etsi

i guess i will look at the asterisk box closer, as thats probably the culprit here.
