Demoting 2k DC's 1

Any clues how I demote a w2k DC to a stand alone server?

Are you sure this is what you want to do...

Do you have any other DC's in your environment. Are these DC's running any of the site specific functions.

If not...then run DCPROMO from the command line and work through the wizard to demote the server.

You're a legend. The books all say how to promote a DC but not how to demote a DC with DCPromo.

In the win2k server I found you have to setup DNS before you setup AD after that you can reset the AD to demote this server go to start run type in cmd, hit enter, type in dcpromo and run thru the wizard. you will loose all your ID's and settings and if you decide to add AD then you will have to reset all your settings again
