I purchased a new Dell Dimension XPS desktop before Christmas. The soundcard is a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS THX. Along with the desktop we purchased (from Dell) a Klipsch Ultra 5.1 Multimedia Audio System.

I've wired up the speakers and subwoofer and connected the three cables to the back of the subwoofer. The problem is there are 6 input holes on the Soundcard in the back of the Dell XPS tower. No combination of inputs yields any sound from the speakers.

Dell said to call Klipsch. Klipsch's customer service is impossible to contact.

Any one have any ideas on how to get the system working? I'd appreciate it.

Since you bought them both from Dell tell Dell it doesn't work and they should call Klipsch. Did you get the onsite warranty? If so have them stop by next week to look at it.

Are all the speakers nonfunctional ? Did you set it up in your control panel for surround sound 5.1, 6.1 etc. ? There should be and input wire coming from the sub into the the sound card. the colors should be yellow, green, and black if im not mistaken.

Also keep in mind that if your trying to look at DVD, play a CD, it has to support surround sound. not all DVD,s play in surround, the same for CD's.

I actually work for a company that does warranty at home service for Dell, and I get a few calls like this. And like I said earlier, make sure everything is set up for surround in your CP, and also whatever third party software your using to play DVD's.

If all else fails, call DELL and let them know of the problem. you'll probably be on with them for 2-3 hours (trust me), and they'll probably send you out either another motherboard, or soundcard, or speaker/subwoofer set.
