I have an XPS 410 running Windows XP withan Nvidia 7300LE graphics card.

I am getting a noise pattern which builds up (it doesn't pop-up all at once).

Two picture are inculded below.

It also happens when I boot in SAFE mode.

If I refresh the screen or open a new full screen window the pattern disappears and the starts to build up again.

This also shows up when I use the TV out to my TV set, so it is not the monitor.

Anyone seen this? I think it must be the video card, but I hate to buy a new one and then find out it is something else.

Looks like a memory problem on the GFX card, where it is possibly overheating...

I would suggest that you first attempt to clean it out, the XPS, and then if it does not help, then try another graphics card, a card with a better spec can be had for squids these days...

e.g. SPARKLE SFPX94GT512U2 GeForce 9400 GT 512MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card - Retail

Many thanks Big.

I found a video memory diagnostic. Sure enough it had memory errors.

I have ordered the card from Newegg.

Once again...thanks.

what a shame...

I still have the C128D, SX64, Amiga500+, Amiga600, and Amiga1200, all still kicking, though I use them less and less as time goes by...

glad that you found the problem... and I hope that the card you ordered fits well into the XPS...
