One of our customers is using a sonic wall vpn client to remotley access their e-mail in outlook. We can establish a vpn connection via dial-up to the internet and through our T1 line.

So we know that the vpn is configured correctly. Well here is the problem. The laptop we have the vpn installed on has a built in wireless ethernet adapter, along with a regular ethernet adapter. We also have a Dell truemobile 1184 wireless broadband router. We can't get the vpn to fully establish with the broadband router though wireless or through physical connection.

I have WEP encyption turned off. I have the IP of the router set in port forwarding to DMZ(all) which I "believe" opens all ports. I have updated the firmware. The device supports IPSEC.

I have called dell and they said that the device is configured correctly and that it must be a config problem with the vpn.

I don't see how that could be so concidering we have never had a problem with the sonic wall vpn clients in any of the other 50 pc's that we have it installed on.

Does anyone have a suggestions? Did I mention that this is the compnay's president's laptop? If I could fix this, it would be a VERY GOOD THING.

Couple of things . . .

When you connect to the VPN via dialup, are you plugged into the LAN?

Second, what happens when you try to connect? Do you see an error of some sort?

I would assume that you are trying to connect over the internet. When you try to connect, is internet connectivity otherwise OK? What happens if you ping the VPN server?

I am not connected to the LAN when I connect via dialup and I have no IP assigned to the LAN adapter when I do.

When I try and connect with the router I get a gold key at the in system tray over the sonic wall VPN client icon. The back of the icon is grayed out though. When you establish a good connection the background of the icon turns yellow and the gold key appears.

I can not ping the sonic wall router on the other side, nor can I ping the exchange server.

Did you ever manage to get this resolved? We're having exactly the same problem.
