Has anyone used a Dell PowerVault 136T on a Solaris 10 server? I'd need to unload and load tapes from a script. Dell don't seem to have a driver for Solaris.

And you won't find a driver for it. The Dell PV136T is in actuality a re branded ADIC/Quantum Scalar 100 tape library. Drivers for the robotics in a tape library are embedded in backup applications. In linux/unix environments direct control of library robotics can be accomplished via the generic scsi driver with the mtx command.

Thanks GLCSerene. I have'nt been able to find anything in the man pages for mt. I used to use "mt ranload...." on an old sequent(Dynix/ptx) server, to unload and load dds tapes from a multitape drive, but that does not seem to be available for Solaris 8/9/10 and DLT drives. Regards, Mike
