Can I install Win XP Pro on a Dell pc?
I mean do a clean install with my own copy of XP and not the Dell restore.
Thanks,
Boss

Yes you can. You may still have to download any special motherboard drivers, but unless it is a very old Dell, there shouldn't be any difficulties.

As long as the PC conforms to a certain level capable of running XP
ie: 500mhz/256mb ram/with a HDD big enough ie:6.4gig plus

Then you just have to find the drivers that XP leaves out, usually modem/sound maybe network

In some cases you might find hardware that isn't XP compatible, you may be forced to replace a modem or similar.

Also ocationally motherboard bios has to be updated to work correctly, I am reminded recently of having to flash a lot of SIS chipset based mainboards to work correctly with service pack 2 (XP)
