Dell Laptop RAM Install

I installed a stick of 256MB of RAM in a Dell Laptop the other day. There was only one slot so I removed the 128M stick and put in the 256M stick. I went into properties of My Computer and it said that 320M was installed. So how can it say 320 when there is only 256 installed?

you have 64mb onboard (check the manual)

Before I began, I checked to see how much she had. My Computer , Properties said 128MB. The onboard 64MB didn't show up before I started. Why would it show up after I put in the 256MB?

Are you sure you pulled a 128meg stick or just a 64meg stick??

Try pulling the new stick and see if the system works !!

Thanks for the replies. I'll send her an email and have her look at that RAM stick that I took out.

I'll bet your right SESASKDFC. That was probably a 64M stick that I took out....
